All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.~Charles Schultz
I thought it would be fun to make something for sweet Lela for Valentine's Day, something to look forward to for more than one day. So I came up with this version of a countdown to Valentine's Day (think advent calendar).
First of all, let me say that I still haven't mastered the new camera...these pictures were taken with my cell phone. I started with an old frame from Goodwill and painted it red, this means it will serve double duty next December for a true advent calendar. We (meaning hubby Mark) then stapled chickenwire to the back of the frame.
After harassing everyone I know to save toilet paper rolls for me, I finally came up with 14 of them. I stapled one end closed and covered each of them with different scrapbook papers. Using tiny craft clothespins, I attached them to the chickenwire.
I printed the numbers 1-14 on scrapbook paper and used a decorative punch to cut them out. With the numbers attached to the front of the roll, they make great little holders for small bits of chocolate, heart shaped lollipops and a special note for each day. 14 days of Valentine's fun, starting on the first of February.
I am so fortunate to have a little spare time to be able to do fun things like this. Can we ever let our family know how much we really love them?
Blessings to you and yours,
Cris
ps. I got the inspiration for this from www.timelessandtattered.com, and...if anyone is dying to teach me how to use my camera let me know. I know I could read the book that came with it, but what fun is that?
